I am a physicist working on high-energy physics and particle astrophysics.  I currently work for the New York University as assistant research scientist of the Physics Department.  Below you can find selected topics related to my work (more details can be found on my c.v.), and several other things.

ATLAS

From February 2007, I work on the ATLAS experiment (located at CERN), which detects the particles produced when the high-energy protons circulating in opposite directions inside the LHC ring collide.  I am a member of the New York University Experimental Elementary Particle Physics group, and work on the high-level trigger algorithms which look for a significant amount of missing transverse-enerrgy.

AMS

Since 1996 I've been working on the AMS experiment, as a member of the Bologna group.  AMS is a cosmic rays detector installed on 19 May 2011 on board of the International Space Station, where it will operate for several years without human intervention, measuring the flux of the high-energy particles which will traverse it.

Papers

In order to get some ideas about my work, you might find useful to read the papers I wrote. Here you will find the complete list.

You can find details on L'entropia svelata, my Italian translation of Arieh Ben-Naim's book Entropy demystified, here.

Music

I play clarinet, and I'm fond of classical music, from the Baroque style to contemporary authors. You can visit my music page and listen to me.

Teaching

From 2003 to 2006 all physics students at Bologna University followed my C/C++ programming course, at the second year. In parallel, I developed and explained exercises in general physics to students in civil engineering and architecture at Bologna University.

Fun

I collect jokes about scientists and jokes about musicians: if you know some of them, please send them to me.
I also collect funny signatures and ASCII drawings when I receive them by e-mail or find them in some other way (if the author agrees).

Links

I keep a short list of commented links to sites related to high-energy physics, cosmic-ray physics, and computing.

Poetry

Thank you for having read this whole page!  Finally, I kindly invite you to take a rest by reading a beautiful Petrarca's sonet.
